3G Wingle (21.6 Mbps ) / Modem Router Overview

A Modern Bridge

Remember the days before the prevalence of in-built Wi-Fi, we would have to make use of 3G dongles to get our internet fix outside of our homes. The D-Link DWR 715 brings memories of those days but with a modern take on the design and features.

The dongle comes as in a simple and easy package which is a USB 3.0 dongle that connects to your PC or laptop. It has an indicator on the front that lets you know about the Wi-Fi connectivity or online status. Setting up the dongle was also easy as ever, as you only need to plug it in to the PC , install the drivers, and you are good to go.

You can plug in a 3G SIM card into the DW710 dongle and turns the mobile data signal into WiFi

This device’s main feature allows you to place a 3G SIM card to provide HSPA+ speeds network to up to eight devices via Wi-Fi, and this can be done by plugging the device to any USB power source. This dongle also provides WPA2/WPA encryption for peace of mind when using this device outside.

The dongle has certain benefits and quirks when it comes to performance. On the plus side, the device has excellent connectivity as we were able to get steady networks in various places, while it leaves some room for improvement as it could have been better if this device had also supported LTE sim cards, which leads to the fact that the dongle only supports the normal sized SIM cards and not micro or Nano SIM, which is a hindrance considering those two form factors are the norm nowadays. The dongle however, does make it more convenient to set up a Wi-Fi zone for your devices as connecting the devices proved to be easy while connections speed were fast and smooth.
